Project Overview

Headstart Hats is a online Hat Shop specialising in classic headwear for Ladies and Gents. Designed over a two month period this is an excellent example of what can be achieved using the Zen Cart e-commerce solution.

Several additional modules have been added to the basic Zen Cart install package including Google Base (Froogle) Feeder. The site also make use of a jQuery slider which displays a number of the sites products.

I found Retro Edge Web Design after browsing through countless designers websites and ready made e-commerce sites The first thing that impressed me was how much effort Paul had put into the design of his own business website , this practice was something that was very rare on my search for a web designer.

When I first contacted Paul about designing the site, he had yet to design the Nappilicious and Frosts e-commerce sites, but even at that stage I had no doubt that the Headstart Hats website would be in safe hands and well within his capabilities. My main objectives were to get a functioning, easy to navigate website that stood out from the crowd, and not look like another templated e-commerce site. As Pauls portfolio shows, all his designs are completely different, so I knew I would end up with a functional website that was completely unique.

As Paul is based in Plymouth, and I’m based in Newmarket, I thought the 300 mile gap would create an obstacle to the process, but I decided I’d rather have a web designer who’s based miles away but knows exactly what I want, rather than one down the road who didn’t. This didn’t prove to be a problem, In the end the whole website was produced with ease purely by communicating by email.

Throughout the process, Paul kept me well informed of ideas, changes and all other aspects of his work on the site, I would have no hesitation in recommending the services of Retro Edge Web Design, and Paul has been an absolute pleasure to deal with, and I would like to thank him for all his hard work.
