A brief overview of the services I offer
I established the Retro Edge Web Design site in 2007 to host my growing portfolio of web design work. As I became more and more interested in web design I realised I could offer the local area a pretty good (and reasonably priced) design service. The following page offers an insight into some of the services I offer.
Personal Service
Most importantly I offer a very personal design service, from an initial free consultation to ongoing support once your site is up and running. If you are local to the Plymouth area then I would be happy to meet and discuss your project. If not then I can easily arrange contact via e-mail or the good old fashioned telephone. I am a self-employed web designer that takes great pride in my work and with the aid of my graphic design skills like to think I offer a service that rivals any big design agency.

Web Graphics and Logo Design
I differ from many freelance web designers by incorporating high quality graphics into my web sites. By using software such as Adobe Photoshop and Adobe Illustrator I create custom graphics that provide a professional and unique looking web site or logo. By having experience in graphic design as well as web design I can provide an all round package and ultimately a better looking product.

Interactivity
With the use of scripting languages I
can add various degrees of interactivity to your site. The idea being to add user friendly menus and buttons as
well as adding a number of interactive elements to ease navigation
and enhance your visitors experience. My portfolio of work contains many
examples of interactive scripts that can be used for:
- Rollover buttons
- Slideshows
- Dropdown menus
- Automatic time/date feature
- Banner ad rotator

Content
The content of your site is clearly very important. I normally work with clients to gather content; after all, you are more likely to know about your subject matter than I am.
Every web site is different so it is difficult to gauge what is needed until we talk in person. I offer a photography service for any photos that may be required and will do my up most to help in the gathering of other content.
Most web sites need regular updates once they are online. I can help with this in two ways. If you are confident enough to try it yourself I can train you to update your own site. If not, then I provide an ongoing content management service and can add updates as and when you require them.
It is also possible to add a CMS (Content Management System) to your site, however this would need to be agreed at the start of the project. If a CMS were to be implemented to an exsisting web site then this would involve a complete redesign of that site.

Promoting your site
Once your web site has been completed you need to advertise it to the public. It’s no good having a web site if nobody knows about it.
The best way to promote your site is over the internet. I provide a search engine ranking and optimization service. This means that I script your site using important key words that your audience would use to find you. Your site is then submitted to the various search engines such as Google, MSN and Yahoo. Once the search engines have crawled your site (this can take some time depending on the search engine) it will be available to a global community.
Search Engine Optimization (SEO) can take time and there are a number of factors that can help (and hinder) your site. If you would like any further information please feel free to get in touch via the contact page.
Another great way to promote your web site is through printed marketing materials. Using the graphics created for the web site is often the best solution as this creates a brand image. I can design the following media to your specifications:
- Logos
- Business cards
- Newsletters
- Letterhead
- Envelopes
- Postcards
- Brochures
- Flyers
- Posters
